Mr. Federico Alejandro ‘Al’ Monleon Pangilinan & Mrs. Emilia ‘Emily’ Batumbakal Pangilinan

Emilia ‘Emily’ and Alejandro ‘Al’ Pangilinan are the grandparents of James, Benjamin, Michael, Topher, Allison, Mary, and Sophie. They have three sons and two daughters. True to the saying, “Opposites attract,” Emily is sharp-tongued and eagle-eyed for flaws, while Al is easy-going and loves cracking jokes. The Mallari Family

Ricardo ‘Carding’ Mallari

Carding is the patriarch and chief provider of the Mallari family. He works as a caretaker for a guesthouse at the beach resort, where he shares a close, brotherly bond with the owner, allowing his family to stay in the staff house. Carding has a loving relationship with his wife, Carlota, a homemaker. Roanne looks after her father whenever she can, while Roel helps him provide for the family.

Carlotta Mallari

Carlota is the matriarch of the Mallari family, a devoted housewife who is the heart and light that keeps them together. She is a loving wife to Carding and a caring mother to Roanne, Kate, Roel, Christine, Sarah, and her two other sons. Her specialty is Filipino fruit salad, a simple treat for her family after busy days of work and school. Carlota provides a comforting home where her loved ones can rest when weary.

Rogelio ‘Roel’ Mallari

Roel is the eldest son of the Mallari family. After high school, he began working as a crew member in a convenience store, restocking shelves with goods and supplies. When his family visits, he helps them find what they need. He’s close friends with the cashier, and they’re like brothers. Roel supports the family’s primary breadwinner, his father Carding. Responsible and hardworking, Roel enjoys sharing funny stories and events from work with his mother, Carlota.

Roanne Reyes Mallari

Roanne is a small-town girl from Laiya Beach in San Juan, Batangas. She works as a cashier at Aling Corazon, a restaurant owned by her godfather at the beach resort Numero Uno, where her younger sister Kate also works as a waitress. Their summer jobs involve interacting with both local and foreign tourists. Roanne enjoys fairytales, especially The Little Mermaid, which she shares as bedtime stories with her youngest sisters, Christine and Sarah. Alongside their eldest brother Roel and their father Carding, who is a caretaker, Roanne and Kate help support their large working-class family. Roanne emulates her nurturing mother, Carlota, by caring for the younger children. She has a strong woman’s intuition, loves swimming, and enjoys spending time by the shore.

Katherine ‘Kate’ Mallari

Kate is Roanne’s younger sister and works as a waitress at their godfather’s beach resort restaurant, Aling Corazon, while Roanne works as a cashier. She regularly takes orders from local and foreign tourists, serving food from Roanne’s trays. Every other night, Kate watches Roanne tell bedtime stories to their younger sisters, Christine and Sarah. Kate is very particular about hygiene and bathes twice a day, in the morning and at night.
