Set in the Philippines during the 2010s, the story centers on four interconnected families—the Pangilinans, Sevillas, Kennedys, and Argentes—descendants of the elderly couple Lolo Al and Lola Emily. Over time, the clan has grown apart, each family pursuing their own lives. One summer, they reunite for a beach vacation in Laiya, Batangas. They indulge in seaside activities: swimming, sandcastle building, barbecues, banana boat rides, poolside lounging, and shared dinners—moments that rekindle their bond.
The Pangilinan clan is under the care of Carding, the Mallari family patriarch. One night, Topher makes a wish upon a shooting star that he, his cousins, and their new friend Roanne could become heroes like those in their favorite genres and franchises. The wish takes root when Topher befriends a fallen blue-white shooting star that merges with a magical board game called The Star of Vis. Drawn into a nearby cave, the children activate the board and begin to play.
As they choose their avatars and tokens, they discover that The Star of Vis is more than a game—its hidden rules put twists in the gameplay. Meanwhile, a sudden storm isolates the families, who soon realize the children are missing. In the game, the players journey across the Visean Cosmos, an ancient in-universe solar system. Upon completing the game, a Cosmic Cataclysm is triggered, and the Seven Luminaries—powerful celestial entities—select the children as their hosts.
Three years pass. The children return, their memories of the cave and the game erased. Their powers lie dormant as they attempt to lead ordinary lives: Sophie joins the Art Club; Benjamin becomes student council president; James enters senior high; Michael’s rebellion deepens; Allison’s early acting career strains her family; and Roanne dives into work after graduation. The clan reconvenes for Christmas at the Kennedys’ rest house, but a strange unease lingers in the town—and in Topher, who begins having prophetic dreams.
Haunted by déjà vu and visions of the board game, Topher sketches symbols and characters from the game. He meets the Oracle of Delphi in a dream and learns of the “Seven Days Prophecy.” The children awaken as the Seven Acolytes—their avatars reborn—each possessing genre-inspired powers, technologies, and weapons. Benjamin uncovers a sinister truth: they were replaced by android clones, orchestrated by the crew of the spaceship Peregrine, along with its robots, ROBO3000 and CleanBot.
Two months later, Benjamin—now Captain McKinley—leads the Acolytes in secrecy. With Roanne, now Princess Ruana, he investigates a remote island’s electromagnetic anomalies. Michael urges the team to become public superheroes, while Uncle Ronald is accidentally recruited as the Peregrine‘s mechanic. The Sirens lure Benjamin into danger, but Ruana rescues him. McKinley encounters a mysterious woman and Ruana learns of the shipwreck. Meanwhile, their grandparents, Al and Emily, are taken hostage as gangs wreak havoc in the stores and banks of the mall.
Bee Girl is gravely wounded in battle and McKinley dismisses Sophie, now Bee Girl, hoping to protect her. He concludes that the Seven Days Prophecy refers to waves of Greek monsters set to invade. For the second wave, the team splits: Ruana and Allison (Love Fey) investigate a woodworking village and a haunted forest and eventually confront Medusa. McKinley and Michael (Spartan) face the Minotaur in the Labyrinth of Crete, while Topher (Sir Cerulean) and James (Oppa Rockstar) face Cerberus in the Underworld.
In the third wave, McKinley, Ruana, and Rockstar face the Chimaera in a fierce battle. Spartan takes down the Harpies on his own. Cerulean reunites with his divine steed, Cielo, and discovers the lost city of Atlantis, drifted in time. Reeling from the team’s mounting losses, James temporarily leaves on a soul-searching quest before reaffirming his commitment to the fight.
Rockstar enters ancient Thebes, solving the Sphinx’s riddle to win his freedom, only to confront the Nemean Lion. After a pyrrhic victory in Spartan’s honor, he meets the same fate. Cerulean finds the Griffin guarding a treasure vault. To win its favor, he must place objects on a scale that reflect his comrades’ core values. The Griffin rewards him with Pandora’s Box—humanity’s final hope.
The Griffin sacrifices itself to save Cerulean and Cielo from Typhon’s spirit awakening. Cerulean makes a last stand against Typhon, while Ruana confronts Echidna, the mastermind behind the monster waves. Guided by Hestia, she frees the Oracle and lays her to rest. McKinley embarks on a suicide mission to defeat Scylla and Charybdis in the Strait of Messina but is saved at the last moment by Ronald, who activates the Peregrine.
Cerulean returns from the grave to challenge Typhon once more. As the Father of Chaos unleashes the Hydra upon Philippine and American forces at sea, Cerulean’s servant, Archangel Michael, defeats Typhon while Pandora’s Box seals the Hydra. The battle ends in victory, but the cost is great.
In the aftermath, the Seven Acolytes vow to protect reality from metafictional threats. At a national press conference, they are hailed as heroes, ushering in a new era for the country. The gods of Olympus honor their deeds, and the Griffin becomes Cerulean’s eternal guardian spirit. United, the Acolytes stand as a mythic, genre-spanning force for good—ready for whatever comes next.
