MAurI.&SE (Multifunctional Artificial Intelligence & Search Engine) is the advanced AI system integrated into the Peregrine spaceship, the Seven Acolytes’ main headquarters. Its name was devised by ROBO3000, who came up with an overly complicated—if not outright bizarre—abbreviation of its full designation. He extracted the first syllables from Multifunctional (Mu, dropping the ‘l’), Artificial (Ar), and Intelligence (I), then directly used the ampersand (&) for “and.” Finally, he took the initials of Search and Engine (SE), whimsically pairing them together while ditching the periods.
