The Pangilinan Clan—comprising the Pangilinans, Sevillas, Kennedys, and Argentes—spend their summer vacation at Laiya Beach, San Juan, Batangas. Among the cousins are:
- James (14): a friendly and charming lead vocalist of his boyband, Kaleidoscope.
- Benjamin (13): a smart and well-behaved science whiz.
- Michael (11): a hot-headed and brash basketball MVP.
- Topher (9): a good-natured and adventurous boy scout.
- Allison (7): a sassy and girly child commercial model.
- Sophie (4): a sweet and bubbly budding artist.
During the beach outing, a meteor shower lights up the sky. Topher makes a wish: I wish we were heroes from the stories we love. And of the things we like. Shortly after, they meet Roanne (15), a maternal and intuitive small-town girl.
Together, the cousins venture into a mysterious cave where they uncover a board game—The Star of Vis: Seven Acolytes & Seven Worlds. The game is unlike any they’ve seen before, featuring automatic tokens, a holographic display, and a prophecy. In the game’s Visean Cosmos, the Seven Luminaries—Scarlet, Pink, Yellow, Orange, Seafoam Green, Cyan, and Ivory—must revolve around the Star of Vis at the center.
To achieve this, the children must traverse the seven worlds represented on the board, rolling dice, moving tokens, and drawing Fate Cards. Each token represents a Follower of Astrea, Goddess of Stars, who can ascend to the status of Acolyte by completing their Pilgrimage. This journey takes them through seven dimensions, all depicted on the board’s intricate panels.
As they play, the prophecy looms:
When all Acolytes are hailed,
And the Seven Luminaries
Revolve around the Star of Vis,
The Cosmic Cataclysm shall rise.
Heroes will be born,
Beings breathed into life,
And new forces will enter the world.
– The Prophecy
What starts as an innocent game soon becomes much more than they ever imagined. A mismatched group—a K-pop idol, a space captain, a superhero, a paladin, a magical girl, a cartoon character, and a mermaid princess—embarks on a wild adventure. Together, they’ll face allies, villains, creatures, and artifacts from genres and stories they could have never anticipated—only this time, it’s happening in real life.
